FAQ's

What can I expect at my first appointment?

Welcome to the office! Your very first visit will be a comprehensive examination of your oral health and wellbeing. After getting to know you a bit, we will take a full set of X-rays, complete a thorough oral cancer screening, and evaluate your gum health. We will use the dental X-rays and our clinical exam findings to check for cavities, infections, fractures, or any old restorations that need replacing. Once we have gathered all pertinent information, the doctor will exaplain her findings and reccommend necessary treatment. We generally are able to clean teeth the same day, but the type of cleaning will be determined once the exam has been completed. Some cleanings are more in depth and may require more than one visit to provide you with the best possible care.

Why do you need to take X-rays?

Before we can jump into a treatment (like a cleaning or a filling), we need to have a clear diagnosis. The radiographs we take are used to formulate a diagnosis on gum health, cavities, infections, etc. Unfortunately, we are unable to clean your teeth without seeing any X-rays. If you have previously seen a dentist and have X-rays on file at another office we are more than happy to arrange to have them sent over and we may be able to use them to supplement or replace any needed radiographs.

How often do I need X-rays?

In general, we reccommend a full series (18 images that show the entire tooth, including the tip of the root) every 5 years. Every 1 year we reccommend a set of check-up X-rays, called bitewings. Bitewings are a set of 4 images that show the biting surfaces and area between the teeth, and are the best view to diagnose cavities. We will take an additional image in cases where a patient has a toothache or if there is a change in status of a tooth/area (fractured, sensitivity, new cavity, etc.)

Do you take my insurance?

We take most PPO policies. If you have a question about whether we take your specific insurance, don't hesitate to give us a call.

Do you do same-day crowns?

Yes! We are happy to offer a convenient, one-visit appointment for most crown appointments. See our page "Same-Day Crowns" for more details about how the process works and what to expect.

Do you see children?

We see patients of all ages and are more than happy to see children.

How do I find the office?

We are located at 6589 S. Kings Ranch Rd across from the Methodist church. If you are coming east from the 60, turn left at the Walgreens on Kings Ranch Rd and proceed about 1 mile down the road. We will be on your right hand side.
